Valerie is the protagonist of the story and the current leader of the Monarch Generation of Crystal Warriors. She's impulsive and a bit naive, but she more than makes up for it through sheer determination and perseverance! She's friendly, sweet, and is totally boy-crazy! (and girl-crazy… and everything-in-between-crazy!)
Valerie is the main protagonist of the story. She is a cheerful and energetic sixteen year old girl who loves sweets, games, and eating. She's not very good at academics and is a bit naive, but she makes up for it in determination and optimism. She's energetic, plucky, cheerful. She's a bit ditzy and naive and has a little bit of a temper at times. She's very friendly and kind and can forgive people easily. She can be needy and hates being alone as well. She isn't very serious and does things at her own pace. She's been best friends with Ethan and Sophie since middle school, and trusts them more than anyone.
After having a dream the magical princess, Rosalia, Val has a run in with the fairy knight, Diana. Suddenly, the Nightmare Agent, Opal appears and demands that Val give up the fairy to him. When she refuses, he summons a Nightmare and attacks the two of them. As she runs away, she's suddenly surrounded by a bright light and receives the Miracle Link that allows her to transform into the Crystal Warrior of love and hope, Diamond Heart.[1]
Valerie is naturally more in tune with her emotions and she’s extremely emotionally intelligent. Val is also incredibly stubborn and tenacious. Val is typically someone who speaks her mind and isn't afraid to tell people when they're being annoying or unreasonable, but she tries to be sensitive toward her friends and avoids saying some of her more sarcastic thoughts out loud. When she has her mind set on something nothing can stop her, but she also tends to have a single track mind and can only focus on one thing at a time. Val can be described as a romantic and a flirt.
Val hates expressing her vulnerability and sadness, instead trying to hide it and push it away. Val can't lie to others and will actively avoid eye-contact when lying.[2] She will often brush off her injuries or troubles in order to avoid the awkwardness of everyone trying to baby her.[2] Valerie is professionally diagnosed with ADHD[3][4] and is on medication for it. She hyper-fixates on baking and can identify any bread by its scent. She tends to be over excited on tasks and can be clumsy and screws up easily. She bakes when stressed because she feels that she needs to focus her agitation elsewhere.[5]
Val wants to believe the best in everyone[6] and can often overlook others flaws because of it. She won't give up on someone she believes has goodness in them, and without external influence, will not want to kill any of the Nightmare agents, however she can be swayed by other characters and player influence.
Valerie is good at dancing and is a capable chef (when she is able to focus). Val is a skilled marksman, has excellent aim, is great at geography, and can memorize locations with ease. She almost never gets lost and has an excellent sense of direction.[6] She has strong leadership skills and is a great strategist, she's able to easily identify her teammates strengths and weaknesses. If sheer determination is a skill, then she is the most resilient character as well.
Valerie has brown freckled skin, curly red hair, and gold eyes. She prefers colorful and fun clothing with flouncy skirts and fun prints. She usually wears some pink in her clothes, but is the one character who will wear a wider range of colors in her clothes. Her hair is done up in various styles and she prefers twin pony styles. She flat irons her bangs, so if they get wet they will curl. When describing her appearance, her hair is described as red and curly and her hair is what stands out the most to other characters. When compared to others in size she is average in height for a girl her age. She's noticeably curvier than other thin characters. She’s not quite short enough to be technically considered petite, but Val is one of the shortest characters in the game after Chandra and Clover.

Diamond Heart
Valerie's base Crystal Warrior form.
As Diamond, her hair lightens to a pale pink and is tied up in large twin ringlets that spring as she moves. She wears two dark pink bows on her hair, one for each twin tail. She gains a heart shaped antenna. She has a large dark pink bow on her chest with her heart jewel in the middle. She wears a princess-style uniform with heart-shaped earrings. Her dress is pink, white, and dark pink with gold accents. She wears biker shorts with two layers of glittery tulle under the skirt. The top is strapless and she has a single side bow with a heart gem on her hip. She wears white platform boots with dark pink bows and sparkly tulle.
Her weapon is the Rose Crystal Sword. A pink crystal blade with a gold knuckle bow in the shape of a heart. The hilt has jewels in each of the Crystal Warrior's colors.
Abilities
Diamond Rose Aurora: Purification spell; Val summons her sword and energy is absorbed into the weapon. The enemy is encased in a crystal heart and she slashes her sword through it. Lights and crystal magic blasts out from the cut and the enemy evaporates away.
Twinkle Diamond Shower: Basic spell that requires no weapon. Val thrusts her arms out and energy gathers into her hands. A flurry of light and crystals burst out from her palms and pelt the enemy.
Parameters
Valerie has mid-high speed, high attack, and high magic ability. She has no elemental buffs and mid-low defense, making her best suited for ranged attacks.
Tropical Diamond
Tropical Phoenix form, achieved with Alex and Zacharie. Her design is based on Caribbean festival attire. She has her phoenix tattoo on her arm and as the only black character in the trio, she is also the one whose outfit most resembles authentic Caribbean clothing.
As Tropical Diamond, her element is Fire and Light. The three are meant to represent different times of day as well, with Zacharie representing sunrise, Valerie representing sunset, and Alex representing Twilight.
Diamond Primrose
Midnight Primrose form, achieved with Clover and Liam. Her element as Diamond Primrose is Starlight and Nature. Her design is based on Swan Lake. Valerie and Clover are meant to represent Odette and Odile, with Liam taking the role of Siegfried.
The form is named after the evening primrose which blooms at night. Primroses also are representative of Clover, as it is her mother's name. Primroses symbolize adoration and first love.
Diamond Prism
Form Change with Sophie and Amber. Her design is based on Ultraman Taro. Her hair shape is meant to resemble Taro's horns and her color-scheme evokes that of Ultraman when translated into 2D. Her element as Diamond Prism is electricity and ice.
Val and Ethan are best friends. They met in middle school during an art class and quickly hit it off. He was her first friend at school and the one who introduced her to Sophie.[7][8] He looks out for her and the two of them have many shared interests. Ethan often acts as the straight-man in his trio with Val and Sophie, being the one who balances out their more outlandish ideas, so Val views him as a mature and level-headed person. She admires Ethan a lot and sees him as very reliable and kind. He is one of the most important friends to her and Val will often bring up Ethan in conversations with others, remembering events she shared with him before.
Val and Sophie are best friends. Ethan introduced Sophie and Val to each other in middle school and they've been inseparable ever since.[7][8] Val sees Sophie as incredibly beautiful and reliable, always viewing the best in her. Val rarely acknowledges Sophie's more petty side because to her, Sophie is a very sensitive and kind person. Val isn't fooling herself though, and she tries to reign some of her more questionable actions in, but she can't help but take interest in her more out there ideas.
Val's opinion of Clover is that she is cute but frustratingly pretentious. She is able to get along with her because Clover clearly has a high opinion of her, but the two of them are extremely stubborn so they can often butt heads with each other. Val doesn't really see Clover as particularly reliable either, and won't often go to her for advice since she can be so out of touch with reality. Clover is like a fantasy character come to life, Val enjoys experiencing the incredible things that Clover's world introduces her to and it's not anything she could have ever dreamed of. Clover and Val have some common interests such as Anime, but Clover's taste is in more retro anime and she looks down on the modern shows Val likes.
Val sees Alex as a comforting person to be around. She describes him as someone who makes her worries melt away when he smiles. Of the three seniors she sees him as most reliable since he is easiest to talk to. To Val, Alex is probably the most "ideal" boyfriend type. He's tall, strong, reliable, friendly, can cook, and he's a lot of fun to be around, but she has a hard time really reading him. She initially sees him as more of a dumb fun-loving jock and so underestimates his ability to help with tutoring for example. And since he's always nice to everyone, it's just as hard for her to gauge his attraction as it can be for others to gauge how she feels.
